About this programme
30X30 is LaunchVic's flagship scaleup program, built around a stated goal of helping create 30 Victorian tech unicorns by 2030. Each year LaunchVic invites a cohort of Victoria's fastest-growing scaleups (10 companies in the 2026 cohort) into an extended, coaching-driven program aimed at pressure-testing and levelling up founders and their leadership teams.
The program is delivered by LaunchVic, the Victorian Government's startup development agency, currently transitioning to Innovation Victoria. Participation is fully subsidised by LaunchVic — there is no program fee and LaunchVic does not take an equity stake in participating companies.
30X30 is aimed squarely at scaleups, not early-stage startups: LaunchVic defines a Scaleup for this program as a hyper-growth company that has raised at least AUD $5 million in a single round, has at least 10 employees, is no more than 20 years old, and carries a valuation above AUD $30 million. Since launching in 2022, the program has run four completed cohorts and reports having supported 38 companies, including JET Charge, HammerTech, Fresho, Acusensus, IMRA, Mindset Health and July.
The 2026 cohort (Cohort 5) runs on a coaching-first model: every participating company is paired with dedicated coaches — ex-founders, general managers or investors with experience scaling Series B+ companies — who are expected to meet the scaleup monthly for the duration of the program, alongside a capability assessment, cohort networking, and media/profiling support.
How it works
The program has two streams: Learning & Development, and Promotion.
Learning & Development covers three elements: (1) Executive coaching and mentoring — each company is paired with dedicated coaches who meet the scaleup monthly and can bring in additional mentors as needed; (2) a Capability Assessment completed during onboarding, used to benchmark the company against best practice and tailor the program to its needs; (3) Cohort Engagement — informal peer-to-peer networking with the other companies in the cohort.
Based on past cohorts, the areas of focus typically covered include strategic alignment, scaling a performance culture, scaling internal operations and leadership capabilities, building a scalable capital and financial model, go-to-market and global expansion, and governance.
Promotion covers media opportunities to profile the scaleup and its people, and LaunchVic leveraging its networks (including government-supported opportunities) on the company's behalf, where possible.
Time commitment: the program runs approximately 6 months, with a Program Day on the first Wednesday of each month plus additional coaching sessions and mentorship as required. Each functional leader is expected to commit a total of approximately 60 hours to in-person sessions and events over the program.
Who can apply
A scaleup must meet every one of the following criteria to be eligible. It must be Victorian-based — registered and headquartered in Victoria, with the founder/CEO also having a primary residence in Victoria.
It must meet LaunchVic's definition of a Scaleup (raised at least AUD $5m in a single round, 10+ employees, founded within the last 20 years, valuation above AUD $30m) and meet at least one of these size measures: 50+ full-time employees with an operating leadership team; a valuation between AUD $30 million and AUD $200 million; revenue of at least AUD $1 million per month; or having raised a single venture capital round in excess of AUD $5 million.
It must have at least 12 months of runway from the start of the program, since the program requires sustained time and focus to implement what it covers.
It must comply with the Victorian Government's ESG policy, meaning the business must not be involved in tobacco or tobacco-related products, cluster munitions or other controversial weapons, thermal coal, gambling, logging of old-growth forests, uranium, unregulated animal testing, live cattle or sheep exports, or fracking.
The applicant must be the Founder/CEO, though parts of the application form must also be completed by the scaleup's other executive leaders (such as the CFO, COO and CPO or equivalents).
