Seedcamp

London-based pre-seed fund with light-touch, always-on platform support rather than a fixed-length cohort programme.

What we could not confirm

seedcamp.com itself discloses no cheque size or equity terms (checked directly). A web search corroborated no fixed EUR 475K figure anywhere; current reporting (2026 Fund VII news) puts typical first checks at $350K-$1.25M / ~$1M average, and confirms Seedcamp uses convertible-or-equity per deal rather than a fixed %.

What you getNo fixed published cheque size — Seedcamp negotiates per deal. Currently reported first cheques run roughly $350K–$1.25M, with Fund VII (raised 2026, ~$220M/$320M across Fund VII + Select) issuing an average first check near $1M across ~100-120 companies. The record's 'circa EUR 475K' figure is a stale/unsupported secondary-source number and should be dropped.

About this programme

Seedcamp is a London-based early-stage venture capital firm that positions itself as founders' first institutional backer — the cheque that arrives before a company has proven much beyond the founder and the problem. It has been investing since 2007 and has backed 550+ companies, including Revolut, Wise, UiPath, Synthesia and Fluidstack in their earliest rounds.

The firm invests out of Fund VII, a $220 million vehicle for first-check investments, alongside a $100 million Select fund that follows on into portfolio winners from Series B onward — bringing total capital under management for the current cycle to $320 million. Seedcamp describes itself as sector-agnostic, backing founders building 'foundational technologies' across categories such as AI, fintech, cybersecurity, healthtech and deep tech rather than committing to one vertical.

Investment decisions are made by a team of seven partners who each stay actively involved across every deal, rather than a single lead partner working in isolation. Seedcamp also runs Seedcamp Nation, a network of 1,200+ operators and alumni founders (including 80 who have reinvested in Fund VII) that portfolio companies can draw on for hiring, go-to-market and customer introductions.

A New York office supports portfolio companies expanding into the US, giving European and Israeli founders access to American commercial and technical hiring networks, customer introductions and capital relationships without having to relocate the company.

How it works

Seedcamp writes a first cheque of $350K–$1.25M into pre-seed and seed-stage companies, and prefers to lead or co-lead the round rather than take a passive allocation.

Alongside its own cheque, Seedcamp builds a syndicate of angels and other funds around the founder, rather than relying solely on its own capital or judgment.

For rounds it leads, Seedcamp uses documentation based on standard Seedsummit terms (see seedsummit.org) and its own pre-seed Advance Subscription Agreement (ASA) template, and will work with either a convertible instrument or a priced equity round.

Seedcamp takes a board observer role rather than a voting board seat, typically holding that position until at least the next priced round (commonly Series A).

Companies that go on to raise a Series B or later can be backed again through the Select fund, which exists specifically to follow on into portfolio winners rather than write fresh first cheques.

Who can apply

Seedcamp invests from pre-product through early-revenue stages. Its stated focus is on 'the founder and the scale of their ambition, not the stage' of the business.

Companies that have already raised more than a couple of million dollars in outside capital are generally not a fit for a first cheque — that later-stage support is instead the job of the Select fund, and only for companies already in the Seedcamp portfolio.

Geographically, Seedcamp typically backs European and Israeli companies, or companies with what it describes as a 'distinctively European angle' — reflecting where its network and market understanding are strongest.

Seedcamp is sector-agnostic: it does not restrict itself to a fixed list of industries, and instead evaluates founders across technology cycles as they emerge.

How to apply

  1. Submit through the 'Pitch Us' contact form on seedcamp.com, which routes the pitch to the right person on the team.
  2. If there is initial interest, the process opens with a call with one or more members of the investment team.
  3. Depending on the business, this may be followed by a second conversation with another team member, or continued due diligence conducted over email or messaging.
  4. Strong fits are invited to a 45-minute partner pitch in front of the full team.
  5. Seedcamp states it aims to run the entire process, from first meeting to decision, within two weeks.

Documents you’ll typically need

  • Pitch deck submitted via the "Pitch Us" form
  • Standard Seedsummit-based investment documents for rounds Seedcamp leads (convertible or priced-equity structure)
  • Seedcamp's pre-seed Advance Subscription Agreement (ASA) template, where a convertible instrument is used

Frequently asked

Does Seedcamp only invest in UK or European startups?
