About this programme

The Connecticut Bioscience Innovation Fund (CBIF) is a $200 million evergreen fund that Connecticut Innovations, the state's quasi-public venture capital arm, uses to make equity investments in bioscience companies. Its goal is to help commercialize bioscience breakthroughs and grow healthcare companies based in Connecticut.

The fund's venture team includes Matthew Storeygard (Senior Managing Director, Venture), Megha Unhelkar (Director, Venture), and Brian Dowd (Director, Venture). Highlighted portfolio companies include Bexorg, FlyteHealth, Normunity, and Revalia Bio, Inc.

Who can apply

The majority of the company must have a Connecticut presence; companies not currently based there must agree to relocate or expand to Connecticut to be considered.

The company must currently be developing a technology, with non-recurring revenue from non-grant sources under $2 million.

Affiliates or subsidiaries of larger companies, or companies controlled by the same owners as a larger company, are not eligible for pre-seed funding.

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee funding.

How to apply

  1. Submit a pitch deck through Connecticut Innovations' online application form, including company name, location, a brief business description, contact information, and your pitch deck or business plan (file size capped at 50 MB).
  2. Academic and non-profit applicants use separate application forms, also available on the Connecticut Innovations website.
