About this programme

True Access Capital (TAC) is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) founded in 1992 and based in Wilmington, Delaware. Its mission is to help entrepreneurs and small business owners in Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania with training, education, and access to capital, and it also serves southern New Jersey.

TAC is built for borrowers who can't secure traditional bank financing. Since it started, it has distributed over $64 million in loans to more than 1,500 small businesses and community organizations.

TAC also runs a Women's Business Center offering business planning, financing, and mentorship for female entrepreneurs, alongside its lending programs.

How it works

TAC offers several loan products depending on what the money is for. Micro Loans go up to $50,000 for working capital, inventory, and equipment. Business Growth Loans run $50,000 to $800,000 for working capital, inventory, equipment, and leasehold or capital improvements. Commercial Real Estate Loans of $50,000 to $800,000 help business owners purchase commercial or mixed-use property. Community Facility Loans of $50,000 to $800,000 provide capital for existing nonprofits to purchase commercial or mixed-use real estate, and typically require at least 2 years in business.

Across all products, TAC's overall loan range runs from $10,000 to $800,000. TAC also mentions offering 504 Loans and participating in a New Markets Opportunities Program, though the site doesn't detail rates or terms for those.

If a borrower is unsure what documents they need, TAC offers to assist directly rather than requiring a fixed document checklist up front.
