About this programme
The Florida Recycling Loan Program operates under a partnership between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Florida First Capital Finance Corporation, which administers the program. It exists to help Florida businesses buy, install or upgrade the machinery and equipment used to manufacture products from recycled materials, or to convert recyclables into raw materials.
The program is narrowly scoped: it finances equipment and machinery, not general operating costs, and is aimed at for-profit Florida companies already working in or entering the recycling and recycled-materials manufacturing space.
How it works
Loans range from $20,000 to $300,000, at fixed interest rates as low as 2% below Prime, amortized over up to 10 years.
A down payment of 10% is typically required, and the loan is secured by a first lien on the financed assets.
Funds may be used to purchase, refinance and install machinery or equipment, or to convert existing machinery or equipment. Loan proceeds may not be used to finance working capital.
Who can apply
The company must be a for-profit, Florida-based entity with a tangible net worth under $15 million and fewer than 100 employees.
A personal loan guarantee is required from all owners holding 20% or more of the company.
The business must hold current Florida licensure with the required permits and zoning in place, comply with environmental regulations, and demonstrate the ability to repay the loan.
