About this programme
The Standard Tax Abatement is a package of state tax reductions offered by Nevada's Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to encourage business investment and job creation in the state. It covers sales and use tax, the Modified Business Tax, and personal property tax, with a related abatement available for qualified recycling businesses.
The abatements are meant for companies willing to commit to Nevada for the long term: they must maintain a Nevada business for at least 5 years and generate more than 50% of project revenue from outside Nevada, so the incentive targets export-oriented growth rather than purely local business.
How it works
Sales and use tax on qualified capital equipment purchases can be reduced to as low as 2%.
The Modified Business Tax is abated by 50% of the 1.17% rate on quarterly wages exceeding $50,000.
Personal property tax can be abated by up to 50% for up to 10 years.
A related Real Property Tax Abatement for qualified recycling businesses offers up to 50% off real and personal property tax for up to 10 years.
To qualify, a company must meet at least two of three criteria: the statewide average wage requirement, a qualifying capital investment, or a minimum number of primary jobs created.
Applications go through a Regional Development Authority first, then GOED staff process and analyze eligibility, and the GOED Board reviews and decides on approval. Approved companies sign a contract with GOED and receive their tax package from the Nevada Department of Taxation.
Who can apply
