About this programme
Capital Connect is a free, three-month technical assistance program to help small business owners in New Mexico improve their finances, accounting, and loan preparedness so they can get access to capital. It is run by the New Mexico Economic Development Department's Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Office, with consulting delivered by Revby, a team focused on supporting underserved business owners.
It is funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Technical Assistance Program and follows Treasury's SSBCI guidelines and definitions.
How it works
The cohort runs three months, opening with a virtual kickoff meeting and closing with an in-person graduation, with a mix of sessions in between. It is offered in English and Spanish.
The process runs in five steps: submit an application; attend the kickoff meeting with the rest of the cohort; take part in group finance and accounting workshops; get one-on-one sessions with expert consultants; and get help applying for capital.
Participants receive about $4,000 worth of free consulting and guidance across the cohort.
Graduates leave with a better understanding of their business finances, stronger bookkeeping and accounting systems, a financial plan or forecast, a loan-ready business, and guidance on which funding opportunities fit them.
Who can apply
For-profit small businesses and entrepreneurs in New Mexico, ready to grow and seeking funding.
Priority goes to underserved and under-resourced business owners and to very small businesses with fewer than 10 employees.
