About this programme
The NYC Future Fund is a small business loan fund from the City of New York, designed to give NYC entrepreneurs flexible, revenue-based loans rather than a fixed-payment loan. It is run by the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) as a public-private partnership with Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) lenders: Community Reinvestment Fund, USA (CRF), Accompany Capital, Grow America, and Pursuit.
SBS first piloted the program with philanthropic support from JPMorganChase (through CRF) and funding from TD Bank, delivering a combined $1.2 million to four small businesses in 2025. On March 17, 2026, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su, and SBS Commissioner Kenny Minaya relaunched it citywide as an $80 million fund with improved terms based on pilot feedback, aimed particularly at better serving immigrant-, minority-, and women-owned businesses.
Compared with the 2025 pilot, the relaunched fund lowered the minimum loan size from $100,500 to $25,000, cut the interest rate from 9% to 7.5%, reduced monthly repayment rates from a flat 9.5% of revenue to as low as 2% of monthly revenue depending on loan size and need, and lowered the minimum annual revenue required for eligibility from $300,000 to $50,000.
How it works
Loans range from $25,000 to $500,000, at a 7.5% annual interest rate charged as monthly interest payments.
Monthly principal payments adjust to the business's revenue rather than staying fixed: they are only required once revenue exceeds a set threshold, defined as 25% of the business's average monthly revenue.
Loan terms run up to 5 years. There is a 3% origination fee and no application fees.
Borrowers must have monthly meetings with a Financial Coach to analyze cash flow and review revenue calculations for as long as the loan is outstanding.
A personal guaranty is required from every owner holding 20% or more of the business, and the loan is secured with a UCC filing.
Funds can be used for working capital, inventory, marketing, hiring, materials, small equipment, and refinancing.
Who can apply
The business must be located in New York City, have at least 12 months in business, and have at least one year of filed tax returns.
The business needs $50,000 or more in historical or projected annual revenue.
Applicants must authorize a credit check and submit one year of the most recent tax returns, year-to-date financials, and one year of monthly projections.
How to apply

- The lender reviews the full application and decides whether to award the loan.
