About this programme
The RIoT Accelerator Program (RAP) is a 12-week accelerator run by RIoT, the Wireless Research Center, for technology-driven startups working in IoT, AI, machine learning, big data, blockchain, cybersecurity, or robotics. It exists to help entrepreneurs scale through mentorship, workshops, and networking rather than direct cash investment.
RAP runs multiple cohorts a year (spring, summer, fall), hosted in-person in North Carolina and Virginia, and takes no cost and no equity from participating startups. Since launching, the program counts more than 150 alumni companies across 20 cohorts, with alumni collectively raising over $400 million and creating more than 1,000 jobs.
How it works
Each cohort accepts 6 to 10 teams and runs 12 weeks with roughly 8 hours a week of program time, concentrated on Wednesdays and Thursdays, typically two 90-minute workshops plus 2 to 3 mentoring sessions per week. Required workshops happen on-site; some sessions offer a virtual option.
The curriculum covers startup foundations, market validation, product development, and go-to-market strategy, backed by one-on-one mentorship from a pool of 200-plus mentors and corporate partners, plus curated networking with potential customers, partners, and investors.
After the program ends, alumni get a year of complimentary RIoT Groundbreaker Sponsorship and continued access to the Founders' Roundtable peer advising network.
Who can apply
Open to technology-based startups building in IoT, AI, machine learning, big data, blockchain, cybersecurity, or robotics, with a scalable business model, at any stage from idea through growth. International applicants are accepted.
At least one founder must be dedicated full-time to the venture, and founders should show strong ethics, perseverance, and openness to mentorship. Ideal candidates are early-stage companies with a validated MVP and initial customer pilots, or growth-stage companies with revenue and expanding market presence.
How to apply
- Review the current cohort's schedule and location (the most recent cohort ran in Wilson, North Carolina, March 31 to June 24, 2026, with applications due February 20, 2026).
- Submit an application through the program's F6S application page.
- Applications are reviewed on team strength and relevant industry experience, problem/solution fit, and market understanding with a clear revenue pathway.
- If accepted, attend the required weekly in-person sessions at the cohort location.
