About this programme
JumpStart's Trailblazer Software Accelerator is a three-month program built to speed up the growth of an Ohio tech business and get it ready for venture capital. It pairs hands-on advising with access to a network of industry experts and vetted service providers, aimed at software startups still working out their go-to-market strategy and fundraising plan.
JumpStart Inc. runs the program out of Cleveland. The accelerator combines weekly curriculum sessions, one-on-one advisor meetings, and a roster of over 200 preferred partners who provide discounted or covered services in areas like product development, legal work, marketing, and growth strategy.
The program runs three months of core programming followed by two additional months of dedicated capital-raising support from entrepreneurs-in-residence who have raised money themselves. It ends with an investor showcase where founders pitch to investors and corporate partners.
How it works
The accelerator is a hybrid program: weekly virtual curriculum meetings on Thursdays from 9am to noon ET, plus in-person events for kick-off, midpoint pitches, and the investor showcase.
Each company gets weekly one-on-one meetings with an assigned advisor throughout the three months.
JumpStart covers the first $50,000 of eligible services from its preferred partner network on the company's behalf, at no fee and with no equity taken.
After the three-month core program, participants get two more months of dedicated support focused specifically on raising capital, led by entrepreneurs-in-residence.
Selection runs through pre-screening, then interviews for strong candidates, with scoring on market need and size, value proposition, product development stage, competitive advantage, sales execution, team composition, and CEO coachability. Selected applicants are typically notified 3 to 4 weeks after the application closes.
Who can apply
The startup must be based in Ohio, or the founders must be willing to relocate to Ohio.
The company should be pre-seed or seed stage, with a venture-backable software business model and plans to raise capital within 12 months after the program.
