About this programme
The SEG Microgrant Fund is a non-repayable grant program run by Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG), a Providence-based nonprofit that supports Rhode Island entrepreneurs building businesses with a social-impact mission. It is designed for early-stage ventures that are just launching or expanding, unlike SEG's Loan Fund, which serves more established businesses.
Grants of up to $5,000 go toward one-off project costs: technology, legal expenses, events, space improvements, marketing, or capacity building. The fund is restricted to entrepreneurs who have already been through one of SEG's own programs, so it functions as a next step for graduates rather than an open door for any Rhode Island founder.
How it works
The Microgrant Fund provides grant money that does not need to be repaid, capped at $5,000 per award, intended to cover specific one-off costs rather than ongoing operating expenses.
As with the Loan Fund, a capital navigation appointment with SEG's Capital team is required before you can submit a formal application.
Who can apply
You must be an alumnus of one of SEG's programs: the Accelerator, Incubator, or Incubadora.
The business must be based in Rhode Island and have a social-impact mission, open to for-profit businesses, nonprofits, worker cooperatives, and LLCs.
The business must have under $25,000 in revenue to date.
How to apply
- Book a capital navigation appointment with the SEG Capital team; this is required before you can inquire about applying.
- As of the source page, applications are closed. Book a capital navigation appointment to ask about the next application cycle.
