About this programme
The Deployment Grant Fund is one of several programs run by The Clean Fight, a not-for-profit that designs and runs programs for growth-stage companies scaling existing climate tech solutions. The Clean Fight is supported by awards from NYSERDA, NYC Economic Development Corporation and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The fund is aimed at building decarbonization: reducing emissions from buildings through heating, cooling and energy-efficiency solutions. It funds real-world deployment projects rather than early product development, so it only backs solutions that are already commercial-ready.
The fund was created jointly by The Clean Fight, Builders Vision, Breakthrough Energy, The Rockefeller Foundation and Turner Construction.
Since 2020, The Clean Fight overall (across all its programs, not this fund alone) has administered $5.4 million in grants, helped portfolio companies raise $784 million in follow-on capital, supported 70 companies through 22 project deployment grants, and reported over 10,000 deployments and 945 new jobs created in New York State.
How it works
Grants of $50,000 to $250,000 are awarded per deployment project.
Technology must be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 or higher, meaning it is a commercial-ready solution rather than something still in development.
Grantees must secure a funding match of at least 1:1, meaning matching capital equal to or greater than the grant amount.
Who can apply
Projects can be based anywhere in the United States.
Technology must already be commercial-ready (TRL 7+), covering building decarbonization, heating, cooling and energy-efficiency solutions.
