About this programme
The Main Street Loan is a Wyoming Business Council (WBC) loan participation program, run under W.S. 9-12-301(a)(ix), built to preserve historically significant downtown buildings. WBC partners with a commercial bank rather than lending directly, joining the bank's loan to help finance rehabilitation or remodeling that maintains a building's historical character.
How it works
WBC participates alongside a commercial lender rather than issuing its own loan. Its share is capped at $100,000 or 75% of the total loan amount, whichever is less.
The rate runs from a minimum of 4% up to Prime plus 2%, with a minimum 1% origination fee, and the loan can run up to 10 years.
The bank services the loan after closing, so the borrower makes a single monthly payment rather than dealing with two lenders separately.
Who can apply
The business must be a Wyoming business seeking debt financing from a participating bank for rehabilitation or remodeling of a main-street building, done in a way that preserves its historical character.
How to apply
- Start with a participating bank rather than WBC directly.
- The bank sets the loan terms, typically over a 5-year bank-side term.
- Submit a complete application with required documentation.
- Get approval from the WBC Board of Directors.
- Close the loan and receive disbursed funds; the bank then services the loan and you make one monthly payment.
