About this programme
The Market Expansion Grant (MEG) is a Wyoming Business Council (WBC) program that helps defray costs for private, Wyoming-based for-profit businesses taking part in market expansion activities outside the state, such as trade shows or sales events aimed at new markets.
It works as a cost-share grant rather than a flat award: WBC reimburses a portion of specific expense categories tied to an approved out-of-state expansion activity.
How it works
WBC cost-shares lodging at up to $100 per night for up to ten room nights (up to $1,000 total for lodging); the business covers the remaining accommodation cost.
Other reimbursable categories referenced on the site include booth fees, airfare, registration fees and shipping, but the page does not state dollar caps for these; a separate Grant Guidelines PDF lists suggested and ineligible expenses.
Meals, snacks and beverages are explicitly not covered by this grant.
Post-activity reporting is required after the funded expansion activity.
Who can apply
The business must be a for-profit entity registered with the Wyoming Secretary of State, with a physical Wyoming presence, and more than 50% of its employees physically located in Wyoming.
Annual revenue must be under $5,000,000, and the business must declare its intent to remain in Wyoming.
The business must be actively pursuing out-of-state market expansion, with demonstrated sales and fulfillment capability, and must be participating in a venue appropriate to its industry.
A Wyoming registered agent or mailbox address alone does not establish eligibility, and activities aimed at the local Wyoming market do not qualify.
Consulting agencies, distributors, MLM or direct-sales companies, law firms, retail businesses, non-profits, foreign-based companies, and businesses engaged in activities illegal under federal or state law are not eligible.
How to apply
- Prepare a marketing plan showing your advertising strategy and target-market approach; this is mandatory.
- Submit your application through WBC's online portal no later than 30 days before the market expansion activity.
- Complete post-activity reporting after the funded activity.
